Community Service Activities The Firm occasionally undertakes certain specific community service projects and officially designates them as Firm sponsored activities. Business professionals who wish to participate in such activities during regular work hours should schedule events with supervisor approval, just as they would any other leave time. Approved activities will not be charged to the employee’s leave balance. Lactation Policy Venable is a breastfeeding-friendly work environment, and this policy details the firm’s guidelines for promoting that environment and supporting lactating employees’ legal right and necessity to have access to a lactation room. Breaks for Nursing Mothers In accordance with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, Venable provides a private location space and paid break time for nursing mothers to express breast milk. This break is provided for up to three years following the child’s birth. Times/locations for the break should be discussed with the employee’s supervisor.
