Denver Accrual of Paid Sick Leave. Venable non-exempt employees working in the Denver office accrue one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked. Employees who are salaried and exempt from overtime laws accrue Paid Sick Leave based on a 40-hour workweek. Accrued, unused paid sick leave carries over from year to year, but at any point in time, an employee may have no more than 20 days of accumulated, unused sick leave. No additional sick leave may be earned (accrued) until employee’s sick leave is below the 20-day maximum. The accrual rate will be consistent with the annual accrual rate and you cannot accrue more than the annual allotment. Part-time employees can carry over a pro-rated amount of leave, with the proration to be based upon the number of hours they are regularly scheduled to work. The cap for part time employees will be determined based on their established work schedule and a prorated portion of 20 days. If you are an employee in the DC or CA office and are rehired within one year from your date of separation, any accrued, unused sick leave not paid out at the time of separation will be reinstated upon rehire. If you are an employee in the MD offices and are rehired within 37 weeks from your date of separation, any accrued unused sick leave not paid out at the time of separation will be reinstated upon rehire. If you are an employee in the Chicago office and are rehired with 120 days of your date of separation, you will begin to accrue and use sick leave immediately. If you are an employee in the Denver office and are rehired within six months of termination, any unused paid sick leave will be reinstated upon rehire.
