Religious Holidays Employees who wish to take time off from work in observance of a religious holiday which does not coincide with Venable observed holidays may request the day off. Paid Time Off must be used if available. Bereavement Leave All regular full-time and part-time employees, except in CA, are eligible for three (3) days paid bereavement leave. In accordance with applicable law, CA employees who have been employed at the Firm for at least 30 days before taking bereavement leave may take five (5) days paid bereavement leave for the death of a family member. Family members include spouse, domestic partner, child, parent, parent-in-law, sibling, grandparent, or grandchild. Bereavement leave does not need to be taken consecutively but must be completed within three months of the date of death of the family member. For all regular full-time and part-time employees, bereavement leave hours are paid at your hourly rate of pay for your regularly scheduled work hours missed. Bereavement hours paid will not count as hours worked for the purpose of calculating overtime. Family Bereavement Leave – Chicago Employees in the Chicago office may use a maximum of 2 weeks (10 work days) of unpaid bereavement leave following the death of a covered family member. The leave may be used to attend the funeral or alternative to a funeral, make arrangements necessitated by the death, or grieve the death of a covered family member. Unpaid
