Time Off Policies
The Firm believes that its employees are the key to what makes a great firm. While work makes up a large portion of an employee's life, we believe that a balance between work and personal life is essential in maintaining quality performance and a productive environment. Venable offers a variety of programs that support time off and we encourage you to make full use of this benefit. To be fair and consistent, all employees are granted a leave benefit for the year and are encouraged to manage their time accordingly. No unpaid leave will be granted to any employee when all accrued time for the year has been exhausted. Leave may not be borrowed from future years. In the unlikely event that your utilization of time exceeds your annual accrual, i.e., you have a negative leave balance, you are responsible for paying the Firm back. If you have exhausted your sick leave annual allotment, but have PTO leave available, the Firm will give you a choice to either apply your PTO leave to cover the negative sick leave balance that is owed to the Firm, or reimburse the Firm via payroll deduction* or a personal check.
